We hear it from prospects now and then, they want to get all the data and analytics of their marketing efforts, but they don't want to pay for them. "We just can't afford HubSpot right now," they say. And although we do our best to advise them differently, some leave and choose to implement a "band-aid" approach using half a dozen (or more) cheap applications to manage their sales and marketing effectiveness.

So, you're probably wondering what happens next? Well, they usually call us back a few months later and tell us they can't figure out why their inbound marketing strategies aren't working efficiently, and they think they may need to regroup with a ManoByte and HubSpot solution.

Here's why the "band-aid" approach to marketing and sales automation doesn't work as a HubSpot alternative:

It's Overwhelming

WordPress, Google Analytics, Buffer, MailChimp, LeadIn, HootSuite, CRM products, the list goes on and on (and on). To get the same insight into data and analytics that HubSpot pulls into both the sales and marketing dashboards, it takes a hefty pile of applications. And in better news, (Yes, I'm being sarcastic) once these applications are up and running, you'll need to learn how to use them all. Now you may think you are an excellent learner and everything, but one of the main reasons this solution leaves marketing managers frustrated is how overwhelming it becomes to obtain cohesive campaign data they want.

It's Time-Consuming

How much is your time worth? For most businesses today, time = money, and lots of it. The sheer amount of time it takes to set up accounts, learn the platforms, integrate where you can, understand how to obtain the metrics, then log or calculate those metrics somewhere centralized, (enter the dreaded Excel spreadsheet here) could end up being a whole lot more than you bargained for. With HubSpot, everything you need to know is in one place. And if you want to learn about the different pieces of the tool so you can leverage more effectively, there's a TON of training available that can guide you through how to utilize that specific element for optimum results.

Frustrating Integration Issues

For the smaller players in the automation game, they don't always carry as much integration power with the bigger guys. That means information coming from one application might not be able to "talk to" another application. This causes problems if another calculation is relying on or utilizing similar data for measurement. That leaves the fun part to you, gathering up the data to draw those conclusions on your own. You're a math wizard though, right? So, I'm sure it'll be super easy. ;-)

The Data's All Over the Place

When you have several applications running independently, you run the risk of skewing your data based on calculations that are coming in from other tools that may, for example, have different enrollment criteria or filtering processes. This type of problem results in questions like, "I can't figure out why these numbers don't match?" Now I don't know about you, but my boss doesn't like to see 2 sets of campaign results that don't add up or match correctly.
