Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Whether you like it, or not, snow is going to continue to fall throughout Friday evening according to MLive. While this may cause some of you to curl up in a blanket and begin hibernating, hopefully, you still plan some time for fun this weekend -- you don't want to get cabin fever!

If you're looking for things to do this weekend in Grand Rapids, some exciting events are happening.  Continue reading to see what activities you'll want to keep in mind when you’re in between shopping trips for the hectic holidays.

The NutCracker Ballet

Sugar plum fairies, and toy soldiers, and mice -- Oh my!

Who doesn't love this iconic ballet, performed and applauded around the world? The Nutcracker opens this weekend at the DeVos Performance Hall, featuring dancers from the Grand Rapids Ballet and music conducted by the Grammy-nominated Grand Rapids Symphony. This family-friendly show is full of adventure and whimsy, perfect for a weekend date night. Who knows, it might just become your new holiday tradition! Want details on tickets and dates? Ice Skating Downtown

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but skating at Rosa Park's is so delightful! It’s ice skating time again, and our favorite place to go is downtown at Rosa Park’s Circle.  Bundle up! This outdoor activity can get cold, so don't be stingy with the winter layers. It's just a few dollars per person to enjoy this must-do Grand Rapids excursion. You could make a day of it by going out to eat downtown followed by skating and hot cocoa. Check out their website for the open skate times and days.

Movies NOT in the Park

If you’re a GR native, then you’re probably aware that Grand Rapids hosts movies for free all Summer long in the park. This winter they're taking that merriment inside the theater at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts. This Saturday, The Mighty Ducks will be playing for free, and there will be plenty of other favorites throughout the season. Check out which films they're showing on their Facebook page, did I mention it's FREE?

There you have it, a little something for everyone this weekend. Stay indoors with a show, or get adventurous and go ice skating. Don't worry; you don't have to be a professional to have a great time on the ice rink. While you're out, make sure to add ManoByte on SnapChat -- we're @SnapManoByte. The team here loves to see your weekend updates and to hear from you. Did we miss anything big happening this weekend? Comment below and let us know where you're heading!

Have a great weekend!
